PHILLIP ISLAND, Victoria/ Australia (16 March 2025) – After a long season of events held across the Asia Pacific, the 2025 World Surf League (WSL) Challenger Series competitors from the region will be decided this week at the Phillip Island Pro Qualifying Series (QS) 3,000 event which is set to kick off tomorrow and holds a window through to Saturday, March 22. The event has attracted over 250 of the region’s best up-and-coming surfers to the Bass Coast as they all look to one day earn a spot at surfing’s elite level, the Championship Tour.
The Australia / Oceania region offers Challenger Series spots for 7 men and 4 women, and 5 men and 3 women for the Asia region. The Phillip Island Pro will decide the final rankings for the 2024/25 season for both regions, making it one of the most exciting events of the year.
“This week is a massive one in the careers of so many surfers from the Asia Pacific region,” said WSL APAC Tour Director Ty Sorati. “There are a lot of surfers in contention for qualification, and we have a great looking forecast meaning all competitors should have plenty of opportunity to prove themselves and earn a spot up high on the rankings. I’d like to wish all of the competitors luck and can’t wait to see all the action unfold this week on the picturesque, wave-rich Phillip Island.”
The event will also launch the 2025 Australia / Oceania Pro Junior Series, with over 100 of the region’s best 20-and-under talent expected to compete in the inaugural Phillip Island Pro Junior, which will run within the same window this week.
The 2025 Phillip Island Pro QS 3,000 will run at Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island, in the Bass Coast Shire Victoria, from March 17 – 22, 2025. For more information, please visit WorldSurfLeague.com.
