Published on 13/09/2024

The opening round of the Victorian Open Series is set to kick off this weekend alongside the Victorian Teams Titles as part of the West Coast Festival of Surfing.

Held at Bells Beach / Djarrak, the opening event of the Series will be contested by over 40 surfers across the Mens and Womens divisions on Saturday with the Victorian Teams Titles on Sunday.

The series is the pathway event to the Rip Curl Pro Victorian Trials, giving one Victorian a spot in the main event at the Rip Curl Pro in both Mens and Womens divisions.

Surfers to watch across the event include Challenger Series surfer Tully Wylie (Jan Juc), former Rip Curl Pro Trials winner Xavier Huxtable (Jan Juc), as well as current State Champions Ava Holland (Mornington Peninsula) and Steve Noble (Cape Patterson).

Surf forecasts for the weekend are expecting a building swell into Saturday with 4ft+ conditions and moderate onshore winds. This will continue into Sunday for the Victorian Teams Titles.
