WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic World Tour Event Wild Cards To Be Decided This Weekend At Round 2 Of The Victorian Longboard Titles

Published on 28/04/2023

Two wildcard spots to the WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic World Tour Event are on the line at Round 2 of the 2023 Victorian Longboard Titles. The event is to be held at Point Impossible this weekend with a strong swell forecast expected to hit the Surf Coast region for the competition.

This sets the stage as the Victorian Men’s and Women’s champions in the longboard division will be awarded a wildcard into the upcoming WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic World Tour Event in September 2023.

The series is also the exclusive qualification pathway for the State’s elite longboard competitors to be selected into the Victorian Longboard Team, set to compete in the Australian Longboard Titles later in the year.

Going into this weekend’s competition, Round 1 winners Ben Considine (Torquay) and Molly Powell (Anglesea) are currently in the top spot of the Men’s and Women’s Longboard divisions and will be looking to continue their momentum at Point Impossible.

The 2-day event will also consist of eleven other divisions that feature Round 1 Under 50’s champion Greg Brown (Torquay) and Round 1 Open Women Logger champion Bea Conroy (Point Lonsdale) as well as Mark Miccoli (Patterson Lakes) and Jess MacLeish (Dromana).

“The competitors will be extra committed in every heat with the wildcard spot to compete in the WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic World Tour Event on the line,” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.

“With plenty of waves expected to hit Point Impossible’s long right-handed point, there will surely be some incredible action all weekend.”

The first call for the event will be 7.15 am for a 7.30 am start at Point Impossible on Saturday.
