LOS ANGELES, Calif., USA (Tuesday, March 3, 2026) – Today, the World Surf League (WSL) announced the schedule and new format for the 2026 WSL Longboard Tour. This season will introduce a new format, opening up the field for the world title-deciding event, which will return to El Salvador in March 2027.
The four-stop global tour will run from July 2026 to March 2027 and welcome La Union, Philippines, as a new stop, offering competitors the long, drawn-out walls of Monaliza Point to earn title points. The tour will once again host events in Huntington Beach, California; Bells Beach, Australia; Surf City, El Salvador; and the newly added La Union, Philippines.
This season, the Titles will be decided by an accumulation of points across the four events, and the top-ranked man and woman at the end of the season will be crowned World Longboard Champions. The opening three events will feature 24 men and 24 women and offer 10,000 points to the winners. The final event in Surf City, El Salvador, will host the top 12 men and 12 women, offer 15,000 rankings, and determine the 2026 World Longboard Champions.
“The WSL Longboard Tour continues to build incredible momentum,” said Will Hayden-Smith, WSL Longboard Tour Director. “We saw some of the best longboarding ever last season, and that level keeps rising. In 2026, we’re taking the Tour to a new and exciting location and introducing a new format. It’s a reflection of how strong the global longboard community has become, the Tour is genuinely going from strength to strength, and we’re excited to see the athletes push it even further this year.”
Having hosted a number of WSL events over the last five years, including a Longboard International event and two World Junior Championships, Monoliza Point in La Union, the Philippines, is a world-class right-hander that offers consistency and quality in spades and will play as a perfect location for Stop No. 3 on the 2026/27 WSL Longboard Tour. La Union is a surf-mad town, known as one of Asia’s longboarding hubs and is home to one of the Longboard Tour’s standout performers in the last few years, Rogelio Jr Esquievel (PHL).
As exemplified across the 2025 Longboard Tour season, this schedule complements the traditional and stylish approach to surfing that is represented by the world’s best longboard competitors. The season will once again start in California and end in El Salvador, as Rachael Tilly (USA) and Kai Ellice-Flint (AUS) look to defend their titles.
