Victorian surfing pioneers duel it out on Phillip Island

The 2021 Victorian Masters Titles has been run and won on Phillip Island this weekend with the states surfing pioneers gathering for an annual tradition of surfing and story telling.
 
As the official qualification event for the Australian Surf Championships to be held in NSW later in 2021, the event renews old rivalries from the 80s, 90s and 00s.
 
In what was a tightly contested final in the Over 35 Men, Joel Reid (Blairgowie) was solid in the challenging surf on his way to victory over runner up Adrian Maier (Phillip Island).
 
Only .13 of a point separated the two surfers with Reid finishing on 13.70 points with Maier close behind on 13.57 points.
 
Finishing in third was Joel Steven (Torquay) with Luke Beerling (Rye) in fourth.
 
The Masters Women saw multiple state champion Michelle Fincher (Phillip Island) again claim top honors at her home break of Cape Woolamai.
 
Fincher finished on a heat total of 9.26 (out of a possible 10). In second was Ricci Hawkins (Mount Eliza) and Amy Hackett (Phillip Island) in third.
 
Other divisional champions throughout the day include Mark Walker (Mornington Peninsula, O40 Men), Adam Leslie (Jan Juc, O45 Men), Craig Lloyd (jhhhh, O50 Men), Martin Rennhackkamp (hhh, O55 Men), Alan Bounds (hhh, O60 Men) and Mark Miccoli (hhh, Single Fin).
