The top surfing Tradies from across the state will down tools this October as the WorkSafe Tradies Challenge heads to Australia’s first Wave Park, URBNSURF in Melbourne.
The event, which has been running since 2013, brings together the best surfing tradies for a day of surfing to crown the WorkSafe Tradies Champion.
WorkSafe Executive Director of External Affairs Sam Jenkin said the event brings to mind the most important reason to stay safe at work – to spend more time doing what you love.
“Every worker deserves to come home safely and enjoy their favourite recreational activities with their family and friends,” Mr Jenkin said.
“WorkSafe has supported the Tradies Challenge since 2018 is proud to continue its sponsorship of this fantastic community event.”
The divisions are open to all trades such as carpenters, painters, builders, plumbers, electricians and surfboard shapers.
With the move to URBNSURF, the event has expanded to include a Women’s division along with a Bodyboard division.
The event features Open Mens, Open Womens, Masters Open and Bodyboard Open divisions with a huge raft of prizes from WorkSafe, Heaps Normal and Milwaukee Tools.
“We are stoked to be bringing the WorkSafe Tradies Challenge to URBNSURF and are looking forward to seeing lots of new faces at the event” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.
“The event is not your average Surf Comp, and is a great way for tradies to catch up and get involved in a fun day of waves at URBNSURF.”
All competitors will receive free-surfing time in the URBNSURF lagoon on top of their heats.
Limited entries are now open via www.surfingvic.com
