Junior Surfing Champions decided on Phillip Island at No TXT No Wrecks Victorian Junior Surfing Titles

Phillip Island / Millowl, VIC/AUS (Tuesday 12th May, 2026): Victoria’s top junior surfers delivered an exciting weekend of competition on Phillip Island / Millowl, with six new State Champions crowned at the final round of the 2026 No TXT No Wrecks Victorian Junior Surfing Titles.

Bumpy conditions and consistent surf across the weekend provided the perfect stage for the state’s best emerging surfers to battle it out for Victorian titles across the Under 18, Under 16 and Under 14 divisions.

The Under 18 Boys division produced one of the standout moments of the event, with Jan Juc’s Jarvis Barrow claiming both the Round 3 victory and the overall Victorian State Title. Barrow posted a combined two-wave total of 13.73 in the final to narrowly edge out Dom Kellett (13.20) and Tarvi Woods (13.17) in one of the closest heats of the event.

Barrow’s consistent performances across the three-event series secured him the overall championship ahead of a stacked field of Victorian talent.

“It feels awesome, this is my last year in the Under 18s so it feels good to win,” said Barrow.

“The final was really close and a bit stressful towards the end, I got that last wave but fell and then Tarvi had one whilst I was waiting on the beach. Stoked I got it done in the end.”

In the Under 18 Girls, Chloe Muscroft (Jan Juc) claimed the Round 3 event victory with a heat total of 8.67, however it was fellow Jan Juc surfer Heidi Abetz whose runner-up finish was enough to secure the Victorian State Title after a dominant season campaign.

“Its pretty crazy to win the State Title,” said Abetz.

“This year was the first time I have ever won an event and to do it alongside all my mates is cool. Im super happy.”

The Under 16 Boys division saw George Everist (Mornington Peninsula) take out the event win with an impressive 13.54 heat total ahead of Eden Hawken (Torquay) and Angus Kennedy (Phillip Island). Despite finishing fourth in the final, Harlem Pec (Jan Juc) accumulated enough points across the series to secure the overall State Title.

Rose Holland (Dromana) was one of the standout performers of the weekend, taking a commanding win in the Under 16 Girls final with a 13.83 heat total. Holland’s victory also secured her the overall Victorian State Championship after a season-long battle with Phillip Island local Scarlett Rennie (Phillip Island), who finished runner-up in the final.

The Under 14 Boys division belonged to Torquay’s Teddy Robertson, who posted one of the highest scores of the event with a 15.43 heat total to take out the Round 3 victory and seal the Victorian State Title. Robertson overcame strong challenges from Raff Morris (Sorrento), Lennox Archibald (Rhyll) and Harry Cleary (Sorrento) in an entertaining final.

In the Under 14 Girls, Stevie O’Day (Jan Juc) capped off a stellar series with victory in the final round and the overall State Championship. O’Day’s excellent 15.00 heat total proved too strong for Lily White, Cobie O’Day and Edie Wouters in the final.

Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said the future of Victorian surfing was on full display throughout the weekend.

“The level of surfing across all divisions this weekend was exceptional and it was fantastic to see so many young athletes rise to the occasion in pressure moments,” said Robertson.

“Phillip Island once again proved to be an incredible venue for junior surfing and we are proud to crown six deserving Victorian State Champions.”

“The No TXT No Wrecks Victorian Junior Surfing Titles continues to play a critical role in developing the next generation of Victorian surfers, while also sharing an important road safety message with young people travelling to and from the coast.”
