Junior Competitors Set To Take On Bells Beach For Round 2 Of The Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles

The Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles will be heading to Bells Beach on the Surf Coast for the second round of the series this weekend.

The Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles is the exclusive qualification pathway for the state’s elite junior competitors to be selected into the Victorian Junior Surfing Team which is set to compete at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles later in the year. 

The event will see the juniors compete across six divisions including Under 14 Girls and Boys, Under 16 Girls and Boys and Under 18 Girls and Boys. The three-part series started at Phillip Island and now makes its way to the Surf Coast before finishing on the Mornington Peninsula next month. 

William Watson (McCrae) will be looking to back up his Round 1 win this weekend. However, he will have some competition to overcome, none more so than Round 1 second place finisher Lucas Hickson (Rye) whose powerful carves suit Bell Beach’s open faced walls.

Another one of Watson’s competitors to look out for will be current ISA Under 16 World Junior Surfing Champion and Bells Beach local, Willis Droomer (Jan Juc) who is bound to throw a few surprises into the mix.

On the other side of the draw Round 1 Woolworths Fresh Move Award winner Scarlett Rennie (Cape Woolamai) will be keen to go one better and take out the round after a second place to Rose Holland (Sandy Point) at Phillip Island.  

“We are stoked to be holding Round 2 of the Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles at Bells Beach this year,” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.

“It is going to be awesome to watch the juniors take on a world class wave and give them a chance to improve their surfing” he added.

The first call for the event will be at 6.45am for a 7.00am start at Bells Beach on Saturday.
