Great Ocean Road Women’s Surf Festival Kicks Off in Lorne Tonight

LORNE, VIC / AUSTRALIA: The celebration of women’s surfing on Gadubanud Country is officially underway, with the third annual Great Ocean Road Women’s Surf Festival kicking off in Lorne tonight.

Running right through the weekend until November 8, 2026, the inclusive festival brings together women and girls of all ages and abilities for a massive celebration of surf culture, community, and coastal connection.

Proceedings begin tonight with official welcome drinks at Mantra Lorne from 6:00 pm, giving participants, guest speakers, and festival-goers the chance to connect before a big weekend in the water.

Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson said anticipation is high as the festival returns to the Surf Coast for its third consecutive year.

“The Great Ocean Road Women’s Surf Fest is all about creating a welcoming, inclusive space where women and girls can celebrate their love for surfing together,” Robertson said. “From first-timers to seasoned competitors, Lorne is the perfect backdrop for a weekend packed with surfing, connection, and community.”

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the festival hub will come alive with a huge lineup of activities, including surf competitions, tag team events, beginner surf lessons run by Go Ride A Wave, surfboard design workshops, surf safety panels, and the Lorne Swell Market.
