WorkSafe Victorian Classic to Crown State Champions at Massive Weekend at Bells Beach/Djarrak

Published on 06/06/2025

Surfing Victoria are proud to announce a major change to the Victorian Open Series for the 2025/26 season that will see the series become a single weekend event at Bells Beach / Djarrak – the WorkSafe Victorian Classic.

The event will crown State Champions in both Open and Women divisions and will see the champions gain a spot in the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach Trials in 2026, as well as being the sole entry pathway into the Australian Surf Championships.

An exciting edition to the new event will be a $5000 cash prize pool split equally across both the Open and Women’s divisions as well as running a second chance draw giving each surfer a minimum of 2 surfs at the event.

“This is the biggest change to the Victorian Open Titles in over 30 years, and will hopefully put the spark back into Open Surfing in Victoria,” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.

“It was clear that the current system needed a re-think to revitalise open surfing in the state. We see this is as a great opportunity for open surfers in the state to get the chance to surf a Championship Tour location.

“We have some incredible surfers across the state and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Bells Beach / Djarrak in October.”

The 2025 WorkSafe Victorian Classic will be held on October 18 and 19, 2025 at Bells Beach / Djarrak.

Entries are now open via www.surfingvic.com/events.

The WorkSafe Victorian Classic is supported by Mizu Life, S2 Adventure, Cancer Council Sunscreen, Vitality Brands and Surfing Victoria.
