Former Australian Indigenous Surfing champions Joe Haddon and Jasmine McCorquodale have been confirmed as entering the prestigious Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles presented by Rip Curl and Headsox on Wadawurrung Country for 2021.

Haddon, who won in 2013, hails from Worimi Country (Forster, NSW) and has been absent from the events in recent years however will be returning to the event in 2021.

“It is going to be amazing to get back down to Bells Beach” said Haddon.

“This event means so much to me and now our family has grown I want them to experience all the elements and spiritual feelings Bells has to offer in and out of the water!”

2019 Open Women’s Champion Jasmine McCorquodale (Kamilaroi, Central Coast NSW) will be back to defend her title in 2021.

“I feel like it’s such a privilege to be holding the current Women’s Indigenous Title!” said McCorquodale.

“I’m super excited (and a little nervous) about returning to the pumping waves of Bells Beach to defend it but most of all I’m excited to reconnect with the wider Indigenous community and share our love for surfing and culture. I’ve missed everyone so much! I’m stoked to compete and watch everyone shred!”

The event will host divisions including Open Men and Women, Junior Men and Women (U18), Masters (O35), Elders (O50) and Longboard.

The event will take place on May 28-30 at Bells Beach on Wadawurrung Country.
