13th Beach has delivered for the final round of the Victorian Longboard Titles with Sam Dunton (Mornington Peninsula) and Bea Conroy (Pt Lonsdale) claiming the Open State Championship and earning their spot into the WSL Bells Beach Longboard Classic.

With northerly winds and a small swell, the event was shifted to 13th Beach that saw perfect small waves across both Saturday and Sunday to crown champions across all 9 divisions.

With some incredible surfing across the entire draw, Dunton had is work cut out for him going against defending State Champion Ben Considine (Barwon Heads), brother Tas Dunton (Mornington Peninsula) and Matt Shay (Torquay).

The final saw the top three surfers within .4 of a point of each other, however it was Sam Dunton who ended ahead with a 14.40 heat total. Considine finished in second place on 14.30 points and Tas Dunton in third on 14.00 points.

Matt Shay finished in fourth place on 10.76 points.

“My rhythm was a bit off in the first few heats,” said Dunton. “I just wanted to go surfing and yeah it worked my way so I’m wrapped.”

In the Open Womens division, Bea Conroy dominated the fun clean waves at 13th Beach locking in the two highest heat totals of the event in the Open Womens division.

Surfing against former Australian Champions Angela King and Emma Webb as well as young up and comer Rori Reyntjes, Conroy was calm under pressure finishing with a heat total of 15.50 points.

“It was really hard. Rori was surfing to a super high standard so I really had to bring it,” said Conroy. “I  had to make some tough decisions under priority which worked in my favour to get the win.”

Placing in second was Rori Reyntjes who finished on 13.90 points. Angela King finished in third on 10.80 points with Emma Webb in fourth on 7.37 points.
