Surfing Victoria and WorkSafe Victoria are proud to continue their partnership for the 7th consecutive year to deliver the WorkSafe Tradies Challenge and the WorkSafe Club Wellness sessions across the state.
The WorkSafe Tradies Surf Challenge is a specialty surf contest for tradesmen and women in Victoria. Comprising Open, Over 35 and Bodyboard divisions, the event pits tradies against each other in a fun & relaxed event.
WorkSafe Chief Executive Officer Joe Calafiore said the competition fosters a sense of community and support that translates directly to a safer working environment.
“Engaging in a healthy, stress-relieving activity like surfing not only enhances physical well-being but also strengthens teamwork and communication skills, which are essential for safety at the workplace,” Mr Calafiore said.
“WorkSafe has proudly sponsored the Tradies Surf Challenge for seven years as it is a great reminder that a healthy, well-connected team is the foundation of a safe worksite.”
Speaking on the partnership, Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson is excited to continue the longstanding relationship.
“Its fantastic to continue our long term partnership with WorkSafe. The WorkSafe Tradies Challenge at URBNSURF Melbourne and WorkSafe Club Wellness sessions are fantastic events that involve the full range of surfers from across the state.”
Piloted in 2022, the WorkSafe Club Wellness Sessions will run in three locations across Victoria targeting key surfing clubs. The sessions are aimed at working with club members on improving mental health, and teaching skills and strategies to deal with anxiety and stress.
Facilitated by Cooper Chapman from the Good Human Factory, each session includes a surf with Cooper before a 45 minute training session.
