Victorian SUP Surfing Titles presented by RockTape wrapped up in an action packed day at Point Impossible

Point Impossible saw some of the best SUP riders take to the water this weekend at the Victorian SUP Surfing Titles presented by RockTape. With wintery 2 foot conditions on offer accompanied by a stiff offshore breeze, giving competitors plenty of opportunities throughout the day.

As a result of the miserable weather on offer for Saturday, the call was made to hold the Victorian SUP Surfing Titles on Sunday only. 

Showing off their impressive SUP skills, and even having a close call with the rocks throughout her final in the afternoon was former event champion Emma Webb (Jan Juc), who took out the Open Women’s Division with a combined heat total of 13.34 (out of a possible 20).

Webb showed full commitment throughout the final, surfing the waves until she became dry docked on the rocks. 

“It was fun out there” she said.

Runner up to Webb, was Xanthe Rivett (Rosebud) who was left chasing an excellent score of a 8.62 to improve on her situation and steal the lead of her fellow competitor. 

Webb continued her impressive form throughout the afternoon also claiming the Over 40 Women and Open Women Longboard SUP.

On the Mens Side of the draw, taking out the Open Mens Division was Matt Takle (Jan Juc). 

Takle walked away with a combined heat total of 13.67, posting one of the highest individual wave scores of the day, an 8 point ride (out of a possible ten).

“The conditions out there defiantly became tricky as the day progressed” Takle Said.

“It was pretty consistent with the lower tide in the morning, but once that tide filled in it became quite slow and hard to surf” he added.

Not far behind Takle, was Rick Pettifer (Torquay), who posted a combined heat Total of 11.97. Pettifer managed to snag a couple nice waves, however was left chasing a 7.18 to improve on his position. 

Other surfers who claimed event victories included Rick Pettifer (Over 40 Men), Brendan Ryan (Over 50 Men), John Lane (Over 60 Men), Michael Jenkins (Over 50 Longboard SUP), and Helen Snibson (Over 60 Women).
