Surfing Victoria is proud to announce its partnership with VicHealth to expand the UNCLOUD campaign – a peer-to-peer platform that supports young people to see vaping for what it really is.
This summer, the campaign will hit beaches and surf communities across the state, empowering young Victorians to say no to nicotine and vaping and take a stand for their health and the health of their mates.
UNCLOUD supports young people by amplifying their voices and exposing the tobacco and vaping industry’s tactics in trying to hook a new generation.
Surf communities will see UNCLOUD at upcoming Surfing Victoria programs including Indigenous and Multicultural Programs, as well as at upcoming events including the Woorrangalook Victoria Koori Surfing Titles, U21 State Shortboard Titles and Victoria Teams Titles.
VicHealth CEO Professor Anna Peeters AM said the partnership will help young people share their stories and protect each other from the harms of vaping and nicotine.
“UNCLOUD is all about young people supporting young people – sharing real stories, looking out for their mates and helping others see vaping for what it really is,” Professor Peeters said.
“We know young people who vape are three times more likely to take up smoking, and this campaign gives them the power to speak up before their friends get hooked.
“By creating space for young voices to lead the conversation, UNCLOUD helps cut through the noise and push back against the tobacco and vaping industries trying to pull them in. We’re proud to partner with Surfing Victoria, acknowledging their strong participation and deep committed to improving the health and wellbeing of young Victorians.”
A series of content pieces will also be created and distributed digitally across Surfing Victoria’s platforms.
“We are proud to be involved with this campaign and continue our longstanding relationship with VicHealth,” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.
“Vaping is an issue that we have seen across the state at beaches and we are looking forward to sharing fact-based information and voices to help each other stop vaping and say ‘no’ to vapes in the first place.”
