Surfing Victoria in partnership with the Victorian Government are proud to launch a series of free surf and Stand Up Paddleboard lessons in Bairnsdale, Mallacoota and Cape Conran that aim to deliver health, well-being, and social inclusion benefits to the broader community
The programs are funded by the Victorian Government as part of the recovery process from the 2019/20 Eastern Victoria bushfires.
Each session will be run by local surf and SUP school, the Surf Shack, as well as Reclink Mallacoota and will include a free “Mind Your Mates” mental health session by Lifeline Gippsland. All sessions will be catered by local food providers.
“The communities in the East Gippsland region of Victoria were devastated in the 2019/20 bushfires” noted Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.
“Although we have been delayed by COVID for a few years, to be able to offer free surf and SUP lessons along with the Mind Your Mates program, is a small element of the community recovery but we believe it will have a huge impact on those that get involved.”
The Mind Your Mates training is run by Lifeline Gippsland and provides tips and resources to promote life changing conversations with your family, friends and colleagues, at home, your workplace, or in your community.
