72 of the next generation of surf stars will descend upon Australia’s first ever wave park, URBNSURF, next week to compete in the Rip Curl GromSearch national final.
The event is a worldwide series of events designed for grommets running in more than 10 countries, with over 3,000 competitors worldwide. For the second year in a row the event will run at URBNSURF in Melbourne.
Some incredible surfers have come through the series including current and past WSL World Tour athletes Gabriel Medina, Stephanie Gilmore, Italo Ferreira, Carissa Moore, Jordy Smith, Owen Wright, Sally Fitzgibbons, Kolohe Andino, and Filipe Toledo.
The event will feature the top junior surfers from around the country including Buddina, Queensland’s Jahly Stokes, former event champion Kash Brown (Cronulla, New South Wales), WSL Margaret River Pro competitor Willow Hardy (Margaret River, Western Australia) and Rip Curl #GromSearchOnline wildcard Will Watson (Mornington Peninsula, Victoria).
