Final Round of Woolworths Junior Surfing Titles to be held this weekend at Phillip Island

Published on 03/05/2024

The final round of the Woolworths Victorian Junior Surfing Titles is set to reach a thrilling conclusion this weekend with over 70 of the states best to compete on Phillip Island.

Just three surfers remain in contention for the Under 18 Boys division after a massive win from former Under 16 State Champion Jerry Kelly (Barwon Heads) at Round 2 of the series on the Mornington Peninsula.

Kelly will need an event win at Phillip Island to jump fellow Bellarine Peninsula surfer Max Bassett (Barwon Heads) who is currently sitting in first position on the rankings with a first and second placing in his scoreline. Rye Cicero (Sandy Point) is also mathematically in contention for the title, however would require an event win and for Bassett to be eliminated in the early rounds to walk away with the state title.

Other divisions with yet to be crowned champions include the Under 16 Boys, Under 16 Girls and Under 14 Boys.

Conditions for the weekend are promising with an easing swell over the weekend and offshore winds.

Competitors check in is at 7.15am for a potential 7.30am start at Cape Woolamai.
