One of the most anticipated events on the Victorian surfing calendar, the Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles presented by Rip Curl, will return later this month to Bells Beach / Djarrak on Wadawurrung Country to celebrate its 10th year.
The event brings together first nations surfers from across the country including Western Australia, Queensland, New South Wales and South Australia.
“We’re excited to welcome the leading First Nations surfers to Djarrak for the Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles,” Surf Coast Shire Mayor Liz Pattison said.
“As a Council, we support events that encourage people to stay longer on the Surf Coast in our off-peak season, and appreciate and care for this place. It’s exactly what these national titles do, welcoming top First Nations surfers from across Australia to connect with each other and connect with country.
“I wish competitors all the best.”
The event will host divisions including Open Men and Women, Junior Men and Women (U18), Masters (O35), Elders (O50) and Longboard.
“Surfing Victoria are excited to welcome back the Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles to Bells Beach / Djarrak” said Surfing Victoria CEO Adam Robertson.
“The event is an incredible showcase of first nations surfers and a true gathering of surfers from around the country.”
The Australian Indigenous Surfing Titles presented by Rip Curl will be held on May 26-28 at Bells Beach / Djarrak on Wadawurrung Country.
