Our Organisation:
Surfing Victoria is recognised by the State Government of Victoria and the Victorian surf industry as the governing and organising body for surfing in Victoria. Surfing Victoria conducts a range of age and discipline events, as well as educational programs to coaches, instructors, recreational surfers and competitors. Our services are delivered by a key network of regional coaches, affiliated clubs and surf schools. Benefits and Insurances are provided to our members, affiliated clubs and surf schools.
This Role:
The Sport Development Officer – Female Participation, will play a key role in driving female participation in Victoria. Creating inclusive pathways from grassroots through to high performance. The position focus on athlete development, coaching support, program delivery and creating inclusive pathways for the next generation of female surfers.

Chief Executive Officer – Surfing Victoria
Location:
Based in Torquay, with travel across regional and coastal Victoria as required.
Employment Type:
0.6 FTE (3 days per week) with a 6-month probation period.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage Surfing Australia’s UNLSHD Program in Victoria.
- Lead delivery of Surfing Australia’s RISE Program in Victoria.
- Support progression and high performance coaching sessions for junior and emerging Victorian athletes.
- Assist with athlete tracking, development plans and performance feedback, in line with Surfing Australia’s pathway framework.
- Support regional and state-based coaching camps and clinics.
- Build longterm female participation and pathways in collaboration with local boardriders clubs, surf schools and community groups.
- Manage coaching program logistics, equipment and reporting requirements.
- Promote best practices in safety, inclusivity, and surf education.
- Participate in the delivery of Surfing Victoria events and education programs as required.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Surfing Australia Progression (Level 2) Coaching Accreditation (or working towards).
- Coaching experience with junior or emerging athletes.
- Strong understanding of surfing culture and pathways.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs, people, and logistics in a sporting environment.
- Excellent communication, planning, and project management skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Flexible availability with some weekend, public holiday and intra state travel required.
- This position requires you to have a satisfactory driving record, current driver’s license and be willing to drive.
- Current Victorian Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Surf Rescue, First Aid and CPR qualifications.
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, child safety and integrity frameworks.
